Custom software

Software that fits the way your business already works

Most businesses run on a mix of spreadsheets, notebooks, group chats and a few apps that don't talk to each other. It works, until it doesn't: a figure gets copied wrong, a customer waits because the one person who knows the process is off today, or a simple report takes two days to put together.

We build software around the way you actually work, so your team can stop working around its tools.

What we build
  • Agile, two-week cycles
  • A demo of working software every cycle
  • One team from build to support

Sound familiar?

The problems we usually hear first

If one of these describes your week, you're in the right place. Good projects often start with exactly this kind of frustration.

  1. 01

The spreadsheet has become the system

It started as a quick sheet. Now three people edit it, nobody fully trusts the totals, and it breaks when someone sorts the wrong column.

  2. 02

The same details get typed in twice

An order comes in, gets written down, then entered again somewhere else. Every copy is another chance for a mistake.

  3. 03

    Reports take days, not minutes

Answering a simple question, like how many orders came in last month, means pulling numbers from four places by hand.

  4. 04

    Ready-made tools almost fit

You pay for software that does most of what you need, and run the rest on workarounds that only one person understands.

What we build

Every project is different, but most of the systems we build fall into a few familiar shapes.

  • 01

    Customer and staff portals

One place where customers place orders, track requests or download documents, and where your staff see exactly what needs doing next.

  • 02

    Booking, ordering and payment platforms

Take bookings or orders online, collect payment through the providers your customers already use, and keep every transaction in one record.

  • 03

    Internal tools

Simple screens that replace paper forms and shared spreadsheets: stock counts, approvals, job cards, field reports.

  • 04

    Dashboards and reports

Figures pulled from the places they already live and kept up to date on their own, so meetings start with the numbers instead of waiting for them.

  • 05

    Integrations

Connections between the tools you already pay for, from accounting and payments to messaging, so information moves by itself instead of being retyped.

  • 06

    Taking over existing systems

If you've inherited something slow, fragile or undocumented, we'll review it honestly, then fix it, extend it or plan a careful replacement.

What you get

  • A working system, tested with your real data
  • A demo of working software every two weeks
  • Documentation the next developer can follow
  • Training for the people who will use it
  • Support after launch, if you want it

Built to grow

We structure the system so new features can be added later without starting again, and we document it as we go.

How we'll work together

Four steps from the first conversation to something your team uses every day, with the building done in two-week sprints. New to agile? Here's how it works.

Discovery

We spend time with the people who will use the system, see how the work gets done today and where it gets stuck.

  • Conversations with the people doing the work
  • A map of how things run now
  • A short list of what matters most

For example

A few situations where this kind of work makes a real difference.

A distributor taking orders by phone

Sales reps phone in orders, someone writes them down, and the warehouse hears about them late. An ordering portal lets reps and regular customers place orders directly, and the warehouse sees each one the moment it's placed.

A clinic with more than one branch

Each branch keeps its own records, so head office never has the full picture. One shared system gives every branch its own workspace, and management one view across all of them.

A school collecting fees

Balances live in a ledger and parents call to ask what they owe. A parent portal shows balances and receipts, so the bursar's office spends its time on the exceptions instead of the phone.

Questions people ask

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly. There's no such thing as a silly question before a project.

Why not just use an off-the-shelf product?

Often you should, and we'll say so if that's the case. Custom software makes sense when the way you work is part of what makes your business good, or when you've tried the ready-made options and keep running into their limits.

How involved do we need to be?

Quite involved, especially early on. Someone from your side joins a short review every two weeks, tries what we've built and tells us what to change. That's what keeps the system close to how you actually work.

Can you work on a system someone else built?

Yes. We start by reviewing the code and the hosting, then tell you plainly what to keep, what to fix and what to replace.

How long does a project take?

It depends on what you need. We aim to get a first useful version into your hands within a few cycles, then build on it, and you'll see working software at the end of every two-week cycle.

Often paired with

Has a process outgrown its spreadsheet?

Tell us how it works today. We'll come back with questions, then a plan for the first steps.

Tell us a little about it. It takes about two minutes.
